Registering a Domain Name and renting space on a server, also known as Web Hosting is necessary when building your own website. A domain name should be unique and related to the website you are creating. There are monthly or yearly costs for setting these up considering there are costs for updating the servers. You can get free domain name and hosting although it is not ideal for creating a serious business website.

Creating A Website

CSS and HTML

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is used to describe the structure and content of a web page using a combination of tags and commands.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is the language that describes the layout and styling of a website including font, positioning, size etc...

Emerging Technology

My thoughts on emerging technology is I think that it is a great way to make the internet more appealing to the younger generations. Since the internet is being used all the time, creating something such as virtual environments develops a whole new aspect of using the internet with other people at the same time in a more creative and dynamic way. I also think that being able to share ideas in say a virtual environment will bring more ideas to the table and create more inspiration in people.

Design Considerations

When designing a website a good outline to follow is the 6 Phases of Design (in the link button above). These phases of design help to gather information and create a good solid foundation of your website as you go through the steps. Another great aspect to keep in mind when developing your website is some design principles such as contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. These principles keep your website looking professional and consistent which is a great step towards creating your own website.

Website Development Tools

In my opinion the Wix website development tool was the most user friendly and easiest too create a website especially if you did not have a lot of time to create one. The various templates also are very helpful to help come up with creative ideas for your own site. Building a site from HTML was far more difficult and time consuming. Although it was very rewarding upon completing the site for it was all from using code and CSS. Wordpress  was also fairly difficult in my opinion only because it was not as user friendly as Wix. It did not allow you to access things or edit things as easy as Wix did but was still interesting to build a site from more of a blogging perspective.
